Why this blog?

So, launching a blog in 2018. Hopefully almost retro enough to be cool again. People are going to love it when I  start a podcast in 2029.

So why exactly? Well, I’ve got time. And I like writing. I liked writing that sentence. And the next one. This one, less so as it’s starting to feel repetitive.

This blog is a way of enabling me to write. The perceptive, but impolitely argumentative, amongst you will point out that you don’t need a blog for that. Storing random musings is what hard drives are for, along with being physical items police can carry off to add visuals to news stories. True. But uploading something publicly means I’ve got to make damn sure it’s ready. Sure, each piece is only adding a tiny drop of content to the ocean of the internet, and its unlikely anyone will notice, but it’s a drop with my name on it. So it’s a way of forcing me to write at a level a couple of steps above embarrassing.
